Part of our Moving in Northwest Arkansas series
Start with the furniture when you sort donations before a move. Bags of clothes may fit into a quick drop-off trip, but a couch, dining table or load of cabinets may need approval and a scheduled pickup.
This guide covers useful donation options by town, with pickup details called out so you can plan around your move. It includes thrift stores, furniture programs and nearby alternatives for smaller towns. Before you load a vehicle, check the organization’s linked donation rules and confirm that it can take your items.
Who picks up donations in Northwest Arkansas
These are the first places to check if you need help moving larger items:
- Habitat for Humanity NWA ReStore: free pickup for qualifying donations. It serves Washington and Benton counties, with limits on the size and type of load. Items must be at ground level, in a garage or at the front of a driveway. Crews do not handle stairs, obstacles or long carries. Use the official pickup scheduler to confirm your load and address.
- Goodwill Arkansas: free pickup in selected service areas. Availability depends on your ZIP code, items and quantity. Check the home-pickup page before assuming your address is covered.
- Helping Hands in Bentonville: scheduled pickup for large items. It lists Bella Vista, Bentonville, Centerton, Rogers and surrounding areas. Call 479-273-2511 to confirm your items, address and any fee. See its donation instructions.
- Samaritan Shops in Rogers and Springdale: large-item pickup by appointment. Call Rogers at 479-246-1060 or Springdale at 479-751-3440. The organization does not publish a fee or full service boundary on its donation page, so ask about both when you call.
- Furniture Friends in Fayetteville: pickup may be arranged. Its volunteer team will try to help when you cannot transport suitable furniture. Give advance notice; last-minute pickups can be difficult. Call or text 479-397-1982 and review its furniture donation instructions.
Potter’s House says it currently does not offer donation pickup. For other listings below, “pickup not advertised” means the organization’s official page does not describe a pickup service. It does not mean we have confirmed that pickup is impossible.
Goodwill donation rules to know before you go
The Goodwill locations below accept drop-offs. Common donations include clothing, shoes, linens, kitchenware, books, furniture and small working appliances.
Goodwill Arkansas lists mattresses, beds and bed frames, sleeper beds, CRT televisions, printers, car seats, high chairs and building materials among its exclusions. Its Northwest Arkansas locations do not accept large appliances or pianos. Read the full donation policy before bringing an unusual or bulky item.
Use staffed locations during operating hours. Goodwill’s official location directory lists current hours for each address. Donation Express centers take drop-offs but are not shopping outlets. The ZIP-based pickup service is separate from these drop-off locations.

Nearby donation options for Lowell
Goodwill at 4301 S. Dixieland Rd. in Rogers is one drop-off option for clothing and household goods. Samaritan Shop at 2115 W. Walnut St. in Rogers and Samaritan Bargains & Bins at 2300 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale are other options, including for suitable furniture.
For Samaritan pickup, call the Rogers shop at 479-246-1060 or Springdale at 479-751-3440 and ask whether your Lowell address is covered.
Before you load the car or book a pickup
- Sort by item and condition. Keep clean, usable donations separate from broken, stained or unsafe items. A store that takes clothing may not take furniture, mattresses or appliances.
- Get large items approved first. Have photos, measurements and a clear description ready. Mention stairs, narrow doors or other access issues when asking about pickup.
- Check donation hours. They may differ from store hours. If you need help unloading, confirm that staff will be available.
- Leave time before moving day. A pickup request is not a confirmed appointment. Keep a backup plan until the organization accepts the items and gives you a date.
- Use only approved drop-off areas. Do not leave donations outside a closed store. An explicitly approved after-hours bin or donation station is the exception, and only for items that fit its rules. Never leave oversized items beside a bin.
If an organization turns something down, arrange an appropriate disposal or recycling option. Do not leave it at the donation site.
